Compressors
It doesn't matter what kind of blasting equipment you have, air compressors are necessary to provide the power for
the blaster. The air output of the compressor in cubic feet per minute (CFM) at a given pressure (PSI or pounds of
pressure per square inch) must be matched to the air consumption of the sandblaster for the best efficiency.
When looking at them, the air output is usually stencilled on the air tank or it is printed in the
operating manual.
Solenoids
Solenoids are air core coils. Equipped with a movable iron core the solenoid will produce motion. As a result of current through the coil the iron core is pulled into the center of the winding. When the coil is deenergized, a spring pulls the movable core away from the center of the winding. Mechanical devices connected to the movable core are made to move as a result of current through the coil. Example: Electric door locks on some automobiles.
