CASE : DIESEL FUEL PRE HEATER
 

System description
Diesel-powered vehicles sometimes experience wax crystal formation that clogs the fuel filter at low ambient temperatures. This may cause loss of fuel flow and power. Preheating of incoming diesel fuel before it reaches the filter solves the problem.  

Mission
A customer had been delivering the pre-heater type mentioned above for years. Spare-parts demand for one particular type had increased beyond expectation after last-time buy and tooling mutilation. Adiator was selected to swiftly re-engineer the product, re-create tooling/equipment based on the old design and introduce some improvements.

Project description
The old design was analysed and improved. Tools were built based on new 3-D models and new 2-D drawings. Materials specification and RFQ information were issued. The tooling process had to be backed up by Mould Flow analysis because of the complexity and high tolerance level of the parts. Sheet metal parts were verified by prototypes. Stamping tools were built. The testing program was verified and executed in cooperation with test institutes. Manufacturing, assembly, testing and packing were based on P-FMEA.
