System description
Switch module is the manual input interface for a sophisticated
vehicle, tracking, navigation and transport information system
developed by a leading global truck manufacturer.
This system provides the carrier’s logistic centre with
information such as true vehicle position, status of shipping
task, and driver availability. The system gives transport
management all necessary information for efficient planning,
management, security and follow-up of transports.
Mission
During system evaluation at the OEM, there was a request
for the system to be made operational from a control-panel
close to the display. Adiator was asked to develop the panel
in line with current quality systems.
Project description
The switch panel is centrally positioned on the dashboard,
where there are high demands on design, illumination and feel
of the touch button operation, finish and colour.
Prototypes were made to verify design and function and plastic
moulds were designed after approval. Illumination of the switch
module touch controls was solved by special LEDs, becoming
the benchmark for all illumination on the instrument panel.
The electronics were developed in line with BUS communication,
EMC immunity and other vehicle industry demands. The design
was verified in a pre-production batch and finally approved
after comprehensive testing.
